Bringing technical experts together with the people who carry out the day-to-day maintenance tasks in the Navy is a great way to spark innovation. We conduct several Fleet Maintenance Effectiveness Reviews (FLEETMERs) per year, all across the country. Each weeklong event includes Backfit Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) training and RCM analysis of several systems that exhibit high maintenance burdens. Discoveries made during these reviews have helped update, add, and even delete maintenance procedures that were no longer effective. The result is significant cost-avoidance for the Navy and increased ship readiness.
